Brave Girls (Korean: 브레이브걸스) is a South Korean girl group formed by producer, Brave Brothers of Brave Entertainment. The group debuted in 2011 with five members, Eunyoung, SeoA, Yejin, Yoojin and Hyeran. However, now the group currently consists of four members, with no original members active. The current members are Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, and Yuna. Eunyoung, SeoA, Yejin, Yoojin, Hyeran and Hayun are all now considered ‘former members’.
Brave Girls debuted on 8 April 2011 with the single album The Difference. The songs “Do You Know (Hangul: 아나요)” and “So Sexy” were their promotional singles for the album. On 29 July, they made their comeback with reggae song “Easily (Hangul: 툭하면)” from their mini album Back to da Future. The group promoted a remix version of “Easily” on 13 August and released it on 26 August. In promotion of the group, they appeared in Jay Park’s
After a two and a half year hiatus, the group announced they would be making a comeback in 2016 with five new members, as well as original members Hyeran and Yujin. On February 16th, 2016 they came back with the single, “Deepened” with the line up of Minyoung, Yujeong, Yujin, Eunji, Yuna, Hyeran and Hayun.
On June 27th, 2016, Brave Girls released their third EP, High Heels, and promoted with a song of the same name. The album peaked at #22 on the Gaon Weekly Chart and came in at #87 on the Gaon Monthly Chart for the month of June with 626 copies sold. As a gift to their fans, Fearless, on September 1st, 2016 Brave Girls released a non-promotional digital single, Yoo-Hoo, which was the last song and music video to feature all seven members that had come back in February 2016.
In early 2017, the group was re-organized once again with Yoojin leaving the group and Hyeran going on indefinite hiatus. It was later confirmed by Hyeran that she had left the group. They made a comeback on March 7th, 2017 with “Rollin’” as a five member group including Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, Yuna and Hayun. The album peaked at #30 on the Gaon Weekly Chart for the week after its release, and was #62 on the Gaon Monthly Chart for the month of March with 1,091 physical copies sold. In August of 2017, it was announced that Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna would be participating in the KBS elimination show, The Unit. While Yuna unfortunately did not make it past the original audition, both Yujeong and Eunji passed. They were then eliminated in the first and second elimination rounds.
In 2018, it was noticed that Hayun was no longer attending Consolation Train and other performances with the remaining members and she did not participate in the “Rollin’ (New Version)” remix that was released on August 11th, 2018. Like with most past group departures, her leaving was never officially confirmed by Brave Entertainment (except to say it was a medical hiatus) but the group has been referred to now have “4 members” in articles and interviews with Brave Brothers.
As of 2019, the group consists of four members, none of which were in the original lineup: Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna. Though they have yet to release any new music, Fearless are hopeful.
